Acne Scars

Everyone gets insecure about them and have thought about acne scar removal. You’re not alone.

But what exactly are acne scars? Acne scars are depressed pits or holes due to fibrosis of cavities left by the previous acne. They are formed when there is significant damage to the dermis, leaving a big hole to be filled in the dermis. The collagen will be laid haphazardly, forming fibrous tissue while shrinks when matured. This causes a pull downwards to leave a depression in the skin.

At SL Aesthetic Clinic, we offer treatment for acne scars in Singapore using tried and tested methods and techniques such as Fractional Co2 Laser, Subcision, Punch Excision, TCA CROSS, Fillers, etc.

Treatment of acne scars depends on type, location, depth and number of acne scars there is. At SL Aesthetic Clinic, we employ Fractional Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Laser as a first-line treatment for most Acne Scars, though other treatments may be considered for special cases. The Fractional CO2 Laser treatment is an ablative, non-surgical scar reduction treatment. Besides acne scars, the Fractional CO2 Laser procedure also smoothens out fine lines, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and enlarged open pores, as well as promotes healing from sun damage.

Other treatments like fillers can be used for deep scars to fill up gaps and reduce the signs of acne scarring. Microdermabrasion with I2PL or other milder lasers is a non-invasive treatment chosen if downtime is a big concern for patients. Subcision is usually reserved for very severe deep individual scars and have varying results. Punch biopsy excision is used for only deep individual punched out scars and not suitable if there are too many scars.
